A new kind of horse power is coming to downtown Piqua as Mainstreet Piqua will host the first-ever Downtown Piqua Holiday Horse parade. The event will be held on Saturday, November 12 at 7 p.m. The parade will include horse-drawn carriages, hitches and riders, all outfitted with holiday lights, making their way down Main Street.
The parade is being put together by Mainstreet Piqua volunteer Tim Hutton along with various representatives of the horse community. Hutton is optimistic that the first-time event will be successful in Piqua, “We are looking forward to having some absolutely beautiful carriages, hitches and individual riding units in the parade” says Hutton. “We will also have horse drill teams and 4H groups represented.” Says Hutton.
The downtown Piqua Holiday Horse parade will begin at Main and Greene Streets and will proceed south on Main to High and then make its way around McCulloch Square and back to Greene Street on Main. There will be an announcers stand at the intersection of Main and Ash Streets.
The Downtown Piqua Holiday Horse parade is being sponsored by Tim Hutton’s Prestige Builders, Parker’s Mobility, Buffalo Wings & Rings, Family Farm and Home, Best One Tire and Service and McDougall Marsh Land Surveyor. Other sponsors include John Bertke State Farm, Piqua Lumber, Piqua Marathon and Industry Products.
