Mainstreet Piqua Announces Details for Reverse Parade

Downtown Piqua’s Holiday parade is going to look a lot different this year due to Covid 19. The long-time Piqua tradition has been moved to Piqua High School and this year will take on a reverse parade format. This new way of conducting the parade will allow for the tradition to continue but in a physically distant and virus-safe manner.  The parade will be this Saturday, December 5 at 2 p.m. and will last one hour.

The reverse parade will have the units in a stationary position and the spectators will drive past in their personal vehicle. The parade route will be one-way around Piqua High School with participants being staged in front of Piqua High School, on the school’s east side, and along the back exit toward Edison State Community College.

Those who would like to view the parade are asked to enter Piqua High School off Looney Road. Both the Piqua High School marching band and the Show Choir will perform along the parade route but the only way to listen to them will be tuning into FM 91.1. The temporary radio broadcast can be picked up along the entire parade route. There will also be announcements and community information announced along the way. Those attending the parade are asked to not stop along the parade route to keep everything moving. Those attending the parade are also asked to refrain from throwing candy from their vehicle.

In the event of rain or snow the parade will be canceled. Parade announcements will be made on the Mainstreet Piqua Facebook page at There will also be a recorded message on the Mainstreet Piqua phone line at 937-773-9355.

There will be over 20 different organizations in the parade on Saturday. The downtown Piqua Holiday Parade is sponsored by Jeanie Bates and Laura Bates of McVety Realty, Barclay’s Men’s-Women’s Clothier, T-Mobile, Evenflo, Premier Health/Upper Valley Medical Center, Thrivent Western Ohio Group and Hartzell Fan, Hartzell Hardwoods and Hartzell Industries.
